Marketing During COVID-19

During this COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that as a marketer you don't get discouraged and to have an appropriate and sympathetic tone. Marketing during these times can be very frustrating and rushed. But we all know that communication is crucial!

To start this article I just want to say that we are all in this together, the whole world is experiencing this, and it's our job to stay together and lift each other during this pandemic. As marketers, we need to never give up. We have value, what we communicate has value, and what our company is producing has value as well.

One of the most important things that we need to review during COVID-19 is our tone.

We need to pause, not stop everything that is going on and we need to review all of our campaigns that are going on. We need to make sure our words and illustrations are appropriate to the times. We need to be sensitive to everyone, there are a lot of people that are losing jobs, becoming depressed, not allowed to see their loved ones, and even losing love ones because of this virus.

Our job is to try to lift everyone up and at the same time deliver our message.

Knowing your audience has never been so important, knowing your audience will allow you to personalize the tone, this way your publics will understand/ relate more to what you are trying to say.

In these times it is important to be authentic and show vulnerability, this shows strength. Working with the community will help a lot more than excluding them in the decision-making process. Also addressing problems head-on shows your public that you are taking charge of this situation.
